Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP)
What is HoLEP?
Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Using a holmium laser, the surgeon removes obstructive prostate tissue, restoring normal urine flow.
Symptoms of Haemorrhoids
Pain during bowel movements
Bright red blood spotted on toilet paper
Bright red blood in the toilet bowl
Itch or irritation around the anal region
Pain or discomfort while sitting or after bowel movements

HoLEP Treatment
Unlike traditional transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and open prostatectomy, HoLEP offers shorter recovery times, less bleeding, and is effective for larger prostates.

The laser fiber is inserted in the centre of the hemorrhoids under direct vision.

Each haemorrhoids is shrunk from within in a controlled manner, by means of laser energy. Blood supply to the enlarged haemorrhoids is cut off.

Haemorrhoids shrink and slowly regress as a result of the treatment.
Laser treatment offers several advantages over traditional hemorrhoid treatments, including minimal pain, faster recovery, and lower risk of complications.
Benefits of HoLEP
Minimally Invasive
HoLEP is performed endoscopically through the urethra, eliminating the need for external incisions.
Shorter Recovery Time
Most patients can go home the same day or after an overnight stay and return to normal activities within a week.
Lower Risk of Complications
Reduced risk of bleeding, infection, and other complications compared to traditional surgical methods.
Effective for Large Prostates
HoLEP is suitable for treating larger prostates that might be challenging for other minimally invasive procedures.
