Find Answers To Your Questions

Is endotracheal anesthesia or laryngeal mask anesthesia dangerous?

You can be assured that modern general anesthesia is exceptionally safe, thanks to advanced monitoring systems, new-generation medications, and the constant management of Consultant Anesthesiologists. While minor risks such as hypotension, nausea, aspiration pneumonia, or dental injury exist, these complications are exceedingly rare and are expertly managed by our team.

Will I be aware of anything? Could I wake up mid-surgery?

No. Once under general anesthesia, you will be completely unconscious and unaware of the procedure. Our anesthesiologist and care team will continuously monitor you to ensure you remain safely and deeply asleep throughout the entire surgery.

Would it hurt when I wake up?

It is normal to experience some pain after surgery, depending on the type of procedure. However, our team will manage your discomfort effectively with pain medication and tailored post-operative pain management techniques based on your specific surgery.

Will I be awake during surgery under spinal anesthesia?

Yes, you will be awake but you will not feel any pain from the surgical site. If you feel anxious, your anesthesiologist can give you a light sedative to help you relax and remain comfortable.

Does regional anesthesia damage my spine?

Spinal and epidural anesthesia are very safe when performed with proper technique. The risk of permanent nerve damage or paralysis is extremely rare. Our anesthesiologists are highly trained specialists who perform thorough checks before every procedure.

After surgery, when will the numbness wear off and when can I walk again?

This depends on the type of anesthesia:

  • For a spinal block: Sensation and movement typically return within 2–4 hours.
  • For an epidural: This depends on the amount of medication used, but function usually returns a few hours after the infusion is stopped.
Does getting a regional block hurt?

You may feel a slight sting as the needle is inserted, but your anesthesiologist will apply a local anesthetic to the skin first to minimize discomfort. These procedures are typically guided by ultrasound, which ensures high precision and less pain.

Are there risks of paralysis or complications with a regional block?

Regional blocks are very safe when performed correctly. While complications such as nerve damage, hematoma, or infection are possible, they are very rare. It is normal to experience numbness or muscle weakness for several hours after the procedure, which will resolve completely as the anesthetic wears off.

How long does a regional block last?

Regional blocks are very safe when performed correctly. While complications such as nerve damage, hematoma, or infection are possible, they are very rare. It is normal to experience numbness or muscle weakness for several hours after the procedure, which will resolve completely as the anesthetic wears off.
